Welcome to our new and improved website. We will be keeping you informed of all the latest news, events, and anything that we believe 'you' the village residents need to know.
About us as a Parish Council and a Village
The Parish Council was formed in 2004 and presently consists of Chair, Vice Chair, six Councillors and a clerk.
Our main aim is to both improve and enhance the Village for the benefit of all. Adult residents number approximately 4300.
Drighlington is situated midway between Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield and Halifax.
Our Village has history from being mentioned in the Doomsday Book (Dreslington) to the Adwalton Common being the site of a battle in 1643.
Annual events we stage include an Easter Egg hunt (mainly aimed at children up to 11 years), a Village Summer Gala and Parade (this attracts people away from the Village too, approx. 3000-4000 people yearly), Drigmass with the switch on of the Christmas Tree lights and also carol singing.
We have also created a Quiet Garden which is planted with over 30 Remember Me roses. This enables those who wish to sit and reflect.
A Multi Use Games area and Skate Board park have also been created primarily for older children; this augments a pre existing play area for the younger ones.
We have also created an area to workout with exercise and gym equipment on the moor.
